Part coming-of-age story, part art-cinema meditation on photography, memory, and souvenirs, O, Brazen Age creates a tender and haunting portrait of friendship and faith in the 21st century. The film follows a group of Toronto artists in their late twenties on a search for new mythologies, invoking a cinematic landscape where classical literature collides with new wave aesthetics and 90’s pastiche.

Our Local Epic
Staged against the backdrop of one of North America’s wildest and most remote areas, is the story and history of the Box Canyon of the Clarks Fork of the Yellowstone river and the desperate battle to protect it. Steeped in the lore of Chief Joseph’s escape from pursuing cavalry, the place was believed to be impassible. Adventurous kayakers began exploring the depths of the canyon just as a massive dam development project began to unfold, threatening the very existence of this pristine national treasure. Unlikely alliances, the intertwining of different lives, and the work of one tireless man served to stem the tide of destruction. But, as Yvon Chouinard points out, “I’ve seen a lot of destruction in my day, and not a lot of successes.” Sometimes the battle to protect an area is its own reward.

Yellowstone: A Political Park
As the National Park Service celebrates its centennial, have you ever considered why our parks are managed in ways that align with certain special interests, but not others?

Featuring interviews and commentary with researchers at Utah State University, Strata Policy, and the Property and Environment Research Center, explore how management decisions are made in Yellowstone, and how it affects the beautiful landscape and wildlife of that region.

Most Likely to Succeed examines the history of education in the United States, revealing the growing shortcomings of conventional education methods in today’s innovative world. The film explores compelling new approaches that aim to transform learning as we know it. After seeing this film, the way you think about “school” will never be the same. Over a century ago, American education underwent a dramatic transformation as the iconic one-room schoolhouse evolved into an effective system that produced an unmatched workforce tailored for the 20th Century. As the world economy shifts and traditional white-collar jobs begin to disappear, that same system remains intact, producing potentially chronic levels of unemployment among graduates in the 21st Century. The film follows students into the classrooms of High Tech High, an innovative new school in San Diego. There, over the course of a school year, two groups of ninth graders take on ambitious, project-based challenges that promote critical skills rather than rote memorization. Most Likely to Succeed points to a transformation in learning that may hold the key to success for millions of our youth – and our nation – as we grapple with the ramifications of rapid advances in technology, automation and growing levels of income inequality.

DOCUMENTARY FEATURE

Rob Niosi is a stop motion animator who has spent the last 13 years obsessively constructing a full-scale replica of the time machine prop from the 1960 adaptation of H.G. Wells' The Time Machine. It's his attempt to recapture the memory of seeing the film in theatres with his father. Dr.Ron Mallett is a theoretical physicist whose story begins with a tragedy. He was only 10 years old when his father died suddenly of a heart attack. Distraught, he sought solace in science-fiction. After reading The Time Machine, Ron dedicated his life to studying physics. He has since become a professor at the University of Connecticut and is now working on building a real time machine in the hopes that he might go back in time to save his father's life.
